Many of us wondered if we could SIT STILL for a 45-minute meditation. We have come to learn that it's easier to sit in silence with a group than to do it alone. A circle of quiet people is QUIETER than just one silent individual.
If, however, you want to work up to it, there are short guided meditations on the Internet that you can use at home. Try one!
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Arrive at The Launchpad at 76 S. 4th Street in Carbondale, Colorado before 6:45 AM on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday (holidays included.) Remove your shoes and join the circle of meditators in the dance studio for a silent meditation. If you require a chair, there will be some outside the door--take one. If you require a cushion or stool, bring your own.
Promptly at 6:45, the door to the meditation room closes and a gong is rung. For the next 45 minutes, the group sits in peaceful silence. There is no speaking, no music, no reading. No denomination is represented or favored.
After 45 minutes, another gong is rung, and the meditation is over. People leave the room quietly.
Often, members of the group meet at the Bonfire Coffee Shop afterwards. Everyone is invited to come.
Cost: Free, but donations are accepted which help pay for the rental of the space.
